The Vikings opened up their stadium to enjoy a 43-degree day against the Packers

U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, is an indoor venue aimed at keeping out Minneapolis’ frigid winters. However, the arena also has ways to connect with the great outdoors on warm days. Massive bay doors can be opened up to allow breezes to flood the stadium and provide a little taste of Minnesota’s nicest days on the field.

Roethlisberger said Tuesday on 93.7 The Fan that Bryant has not asked for a trade based on their talks together. On Sunday, however, ESPN confirmed a report by NFL Network that Bryant had requested a trade recently.

“There haven’t been any inklings of unhappiness,” Roethlisberger said during his weekly radio appearance.

Addressing the media Tuesday at the Steelers facility, Tomlin said he had no reaction to the storyline, which is a “nonissue to us.”

Tomlin was asked what Bryant has told him about his role in the offense. Tomlin said Bryant hasn’t detailed a desired role.

He was the league-leader in punt return yards and 10th in kick return yards. He was tied for the league lead with two kick or punt return touchdowns. His 143 punt return yards in week 2 was his 2nd most ever. His 219 kick return yards in week 4 was his 2nd most ever.

He was also, allegedly, a wide receiver. After playing corner his rookie year, Hester switched to offense over the summer. But to that point, he’d had one pass thrown his way, without a catch.

This year the turnover ratio is 0 through four games — and that includes unforced errors by backup quarterbacks — and the secondary has produced six interceptions.falcons_027

That’s when Fournier hit the first of three big shots, a 3-pointer for a 108-103 lead.

Fournier stalled the Heat’s rally by scoring seven points in the final 2:27, including a driving basket with 30 seconds left. The Heat trailed by 17 early in the fourth quarter but cut the deficit to two with 2:39 to play.

That’s when Fournier hit the first of three big shots, a 3-pointer for a 108-103 lead.

Hassan Whiteside keyed the Heat’s comeback and finished with 26 points and 22 rebounds. Goran Dragic had 17 points and six assists.

Whiteside sparked the Heat with eight straight points, including a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to nine with 6:08 remaining. Dragic made it 105-103 with two free throws before Fournier’s 3.

Kansas City is a 3-point road favorite in Oakland at sportsbooks monitored by Since Nov. 15, 2015, the Chiefs are 12-0 SU and 9-3 ATS in 12 games against division rivals in the AFC West.

What does this mean for the Raiders? It depends on how long Carr is out. Carr was sidelined last year after suffering a fractured tibula in Week 16, and Matt McGloin and Connor Cook weren’t able to do enough to prevent an immediate playoff exit with a 27-14 loss to the Texans. Oakland lost both games that Carr missed last year.

Now EJ Manuel will take Carr’s place. Manuel entered the game on Sunday when Carr was injured and he completed 11 of 17 passes for 106 yards and one interception.

Del Rio was pleased with Manuel’s performance. Coach Dirk Koetter said Winston is more day-to-day than week-to-week. “The way I understand it — he will be cleared medically to play,” Koetter said. “I know Jameis can handle a lot of pain. That’s not going to be an issue. I think it will be more [about] does Jameis feel like he can play at the level he needs to play at?” — Jenna Laine

Nashville scored first in the second period, too.

“We’ve got a shot now,” said New York manager Joe Girardi, harshly criticized for his Game 2 decisions. “So it’s a totally different feeling than it was the other day, and these guys have picked me up.”

Hartnell beat Elliott with a slap shot off the rebound of teammate Pontus Aberg’s shot at 3:08 for a 2-0 lead. Mattias Ekholm skated across the crease, and his backhand shot went off Elliott to Bonino, who easily tapped the puck in for a 3-0 lead and his first goal since leaving Pittsburgh for Nashville this offseason .

Then the Flyers turned the celebration into a game. McDonald scored his first goal on a slap shot at 10:19, and Patrick, the second overall pick in the June draft, got his first career goal 16 seconds later on a wrister. Philadelphia took advantage of its third power play in the period when Filppula scored on a wrister at 15:05, tying it at 3.

Normally this would be the point that the Jets are sent plunging back to earth by their tormentors. The Patriots, however, are certifiably dreadful on defense right now (last in the NFL by a scandalous 50 yards a game). Josh McCown has done well against similarly bad defenses (the Browns, for example). Doing that and outselling Tom Brady, though, are separate challenges.

The NFL is also expected to soon announce support for a bipartisan criminal justice reform bill in the U.S. Senate. That anticipated announcement comes after Goodell listened to a number of players who spoke with him about criminal justice reform.steelers_015

The Lions also run the risk of letting the Packers run away from them in the NFC North.

Claiming that the Lions’ offense can get healthy against the Saints’ defense is really just a saying in this case. Matthew Stafford is apparently actually injured. The Lions defense showed vulnerability against the Panthers, and while Drew Brees and this offense presents different challenges, the Lions unit has a lot to prove.

Aaron Rodgers is trying to put away the NFC North a lot earlier for a change, no matter what problems have plagued the Packers. Case Keenum and Jerick McKinnon can give the shorthanded Vikings a chance in every game if the defense can hold up. But Rodgers will consistently find who’s covered by Trae Waynes — and not Xavier Rhodes or Harrison Smith — and Minnesota won’t keep up.

Following a 2-1 victory on Monday that provided the Cubs with a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series, Arrieta has the chance to propel Chicago into a third straight NL Championship Series appearance.

In the back of his mind, though, Arrieta understands the Tuesday start could represent the final time he takes center stage for the home team at Wrigley Field.

Lue coached Green as an assistant coach in Boston under Doc Rivers. With their bond established, Lue called up Green this past summer with an offer to join Cleveland to play backup minutes behind LeBron James and Kevin Love. Green made $15 million for the Orlando Magic last year but put up career lows across the board — 9.1 points on 39.4 percent shooting overall, 27.5 percent from 3 and 3.1 rebounds per game. The Cavs were offering only a veteran minimum deal of $2.1 million. Why did Green accept?

“Look around the locker room,” he said. “Look at the opportunity we have … to learn from LeBron and (Dwyane) Wade now. … I had that opportunity when they called and now I have it. It was a no-brainer to pick Cleveland to win the championship this year.”tigers_015

Varlamov, Avs aim to build on solid start vs. Bruins

Strasburg threw a bullpen session Monday. Baker said there is an illness going around his team, which he attributed to the weather, air conditioning at their hotel and Wrigley, and the “time of the year for mold around Chicago.”

“We decided to stay with Tanner because, No. 1, you know, he was slated,” Baker said. “Didn’t work out for Stras for his bullpen day, and we’re all creatures of habit, and plus, we’ve got full confidence in Tanner. And Stras, it would have been better, because he’s feeling under the weather, like a lot of my team is.”

The Cubs and Nationals took batting practice and the grounds crew got the field ready before bringing out the tarp. The rain started to fall about a half-hour after the game was supposed to start. With more showers in the forecast, Major League Baseball then called it off.

Chicago leads 2-1 in the best-of-five series going into Game 4, now scheduled for Wednesday at 4:08 p.m. EDT. There is rain in the forecast for early in the day.

Lundqvist also was credited with a goalmouth stop on Stastny during a St. Louis power play in the third. New York’s goalie finished with 20 saves.

“I think I played a pretty solid game,” Lundqvist said. “But it’s not the start you’re looking for.”

Adam Cracknell made his Rangers debut. New York picked up the 32-year-old right wing off waivers Monday from Dallas. He wore No. 25 and skated on the fourth line with Paul Carey and David Desharnais. … Prior to the game, New York announced rookie Filip Chytil had been assigned to AHL Hartford, and Andrew Desjardins was released from his professional tryout. .. St. Louis announced it had reached an agreement with San Antonio to be the Blues’ AHL affiliate.

Hogan and Kizer now await Jackson’s decision.

“The safety [Marcus Maye] undercut an out route,” Kizer said. “I did not see him, and I put the ball in harm’s way.”

Jackson said Kizer could have recognized the Jets’ zone defense and would have been happy had the quarterback thrown the ball away.

“Sometimes young guys, it is not going as well for them and that is my job,” Jackson said. “Sometimes taking him off and letting him see and breathe a little bit is good, and I think that is what he did.”

“Right now, I am just doing what I can to get better and help this team get a win,” Hogan said.

Said Kizer: “You go back, you learn from it. You do whatever you can to be a better player.”

The Ravens catch a break on their cross-country trip by facing EJ Manuel instead of Derek Carr. The defense still needs to play out of its mind to overcome how wretched the offense has been so far, and against the Steelers, they didn’t quite do it. It’s safe to say starting 2-0 against the Bengals and Browns wasn’t the best barometer for the Ravens.

Their recent playoff face-offs always make these regular-season games so rich with drama. Who has time to still be salty about whether Dez caught it in Lambeau Field, when now one can be salty about that final Packers march in Arlington last January? Home-field in the playoffs should be at stake … yes, it’s too early to start doubting the Cowboys that drastically. It’s not too early to doubt whether their defense can slow, let alone stop, Aaron Rodgers.

On his first trip back to Cleveland, Josh McCown experienced something new — and something unexpected.

Steven Terrell, S, Kansas City Chiefs: Terrell was accidentally kicked in the head on the opening kickoff, and he was down for some time before walking off the field with some assistance. Shortly thereafter, he was ruled out of the game due to a concussion.

Bilal Powell, RB, New York Jets: Powell left the game during the second half and his return was deemed questionable because of a calf injury. After the game, Jets coach Todd Bowles said that Powell will have tests on his injured calf. This is troublesome, especially with fellow RB Matt Forte still dealing with turf toe.

“I didn’t think it was going in the right direction,” Jackson said of Kizer’s benching. “That is why I made the decision to take him out. We go into every game trying to win. That is our goal. That is our job. That is my job. I’m not here just to get players better. That is part of it, but it is also to win. I think if there is a decision that needs to be made to win, that is the decision I am going to make.”

“It took me three years and two teams,” New York’s quarterback said. “But dang gummit, I got me a win at FirstEnergy Stadium.”

As a visitor.

Released by the Browns in February after two seasons, McCown got some revenge on his former team by throwing two touchdown passes and leading the surprising Jets to a 17-14 win over the winless Browns and coach Hue Jackson, who benched rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer and is under more pressure after falling to 1-20.x (7)

Browns bench rookie QB DeShone Kizer, won’t reveal next week’s starter

Browns coach Hue Jackson benched quarterback DeShone Kizer for Kevin Hogan in Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets then declined to say who would start next Sunday’s game in Houston.

“It is still about winning,” Jackson said after the 17-14 loss that dropped the Browns to 0-5. “Kizer is developing, but his job is still to win. That is first and foremost. I didn’t think it was going in the right direction. That is why I made the decision to take him out. If that was the case and it was just about development, I would have just left him in. It is not about that. It is about winning.”

The Deshaun Watson Experience became a must-see event last week against the Titans. The Texans wisely spent the minutes after that rout cautioning everybody not to expect the Chiefs game to go that well. For good reason: For all the deserved praise for Alex Smith and the offense he’s running, the defense did not make it easy on Washington after falling behind 10-0 Monday night and paved the way for the comeback. It’s a great test for Watson.

Welcome to the NFL, No. 2 overall pick Mitchell Trubisky … signed, the Vikings defense. They’re another bunch that has to hold up its end of the deal extra-high because of the injury devastation on the offense. Playing a rookie in his NFL debut helps everybody on the Vikings’ defense, including Everson Griffen, whose five sacks are fourth in the league.x (2)

Patriots’ Tom Brady hopes ‘qualified’ Colin Kaepernick ‘gets a shot’

Tom Brady is the latest NFL player to make a plea for Colin Kaepernick.

While speaking to “CBS This Morning” on Sunday, the Patriots quarterback said he hopes to face the former 49ers signal-caller on the field again in the future.

Glennon may not have had glaringly bad numbers but he failed to lead a scoring drive against a defense that was ranked 26th in the NFL last season.

Fox though put a lot of the loss on the Bears’ inability to run the football. Tarik Cohen and Jordan Howard combined to run for 20 yards on 16 carries and zero touchdowns.

“There’s a lot of people that had their hand in it and we’ll leave it at that,” Fox said.

Through two games this season Glennon has completed 67 percent of his passes while throwing for 514 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions as the Bears dropped their second straight to open the season.

Phillip Dorsett, Patriots wide receiver: “Just wanted to show everyone we’re unified between one another. We’re together. We’re strong. This game is a great game because of the brotherhood and the relationships; it’s amazing what this game to bring to everybody. People have a platform to be able to change. We just wanted to show that we are one, not just with our team, but the whole NFL, with everybody.” Dorsett locked arms with Brady.

A.J. Bouye, Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback: “I was pissed off last night just for the simple fact I don’t know the president as a man, just like he doesn’t know us as men, and it holds close to home with me because for the simple fact what you say about us, you’re disrespecting our moms. I lost my mom to cancer. My stepmom came in, I know she’s not what he’s calling her. a (18)

Lions fan banned from games after racist Snapchat went viral

After a Lions fan posted a racist Snapchat during Detroit’s game on Sunday, the team asked him to turn in his tickets and said he would no longer be allowed at Ford Field, the Detroit News reported.

The picture showed two African Americans sitting in the stands during the national anthem and had the caption “Ignorant n—s.”

The Snapchat went viral after the Lions’ Week 1 victory over the Cardinals at home. It was posted on Facebook and other social media platforms, before news outlets began to pick in up.

“We don’t have a budget like the Dolphins,” Central coach Roland Smith told the Miami Herald. “We don’t have a budget like a college. We don’t have a national budget to stay extra days after a game and stuff like that.

“We don’t have big booster clubs like other schools have that can take care of things like this. But when you have an organization the kids look up to and they step forward, it’s an awesome thing.”

Smith has prior experience with the team, as he previously played for the University of Miami and was selected by the Dolphins in the 1991 NFL Draft.

Smith had been hopeful to return this week after missing all of the preseason and 15 games last season while recovering from a torn ACL. He was given a clean bill of health for his knee and was working on his conditioning before the bug hit. In 18 starts from 2014-2015, Smith recorded 13.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.b (19)
